ODOBAN Poison?
Does anyone know if the odor from Odoban is poison to parrots? We are using it in the basement because of a sewer backflow problem. Please let me know asap because they are waiting to use it but I wanted to wait. Any avian vets out here? I know they use it in veterinary places sometimes.
Are you using gallons or a cup or so?
- Assure that you have installed a proper Back Flow devise to greatly minimize future events.
- Install a air make-up devise in accordance with your local building code.
- Install a fan in the basement that can be used to remove standing /stale air.
Odoban is a specific application chemical that is commonly used to clean areas when odors from events like yours to Vet Clinics require its use. As with anything, the heavier the use the greater the need to vent!
Basements if not designed properly have serious problems with a lack of air exchange! This traps odors and chemicals that you do not want to stand around.
If you have an older furnace that draws air for the burner from the home. Work to draw air from the floor of the basement. Set-up the ducting so that you can choose to pull air from about 6 foot level when you are treating the basement with products like Odoban or painting, etc...
FYI: This method only works during the Winter months. Other times of the year, you will have to use a duct fan to draw air out of the basement.
FYI: In volume and without the exchange of air, yes!!! Set-up good venting and all will be well!
