Hi ,
Went to post a question about why does my parrot offer his foot. I googled this this morning and the 1st that came up was my own question that I actually posted in here back in 2009 lol.
But would like to ask again because reading through the comments from my question back in 2009, seems many are saying its because they want to step up or be picked up.
Not quite so I think in my parrots case, which makes it all the more confusing as to why he does it ??
He usually offers his foot when Im up close and chatting to him or kissing his beak. But when he offers his foot, I usually take it and kiss it like crazy and let it go..... but if I think he wants to be picked up instead, I go to get him to step up but he runs like a bat out of hell ??????
Is he just playing ??? I really dont think he wants to step up somehow. Although he learnt this command quite young.
He even says at times without offering his foot " Come with Robyn" so I go to get him and he takes off. Other times he will say " Come with Robyn and hop on me and climb up to my shoulder.
He is a very happy boy but is now competing with another male ekky we have and they at times fight but tend to fly to outdo each other in the morning, sort of playing I guess.
Any views of why Jack raises his foot ? Is it just because he knows Im going to kiss it like crazy and thats what he wants ? Its definitely not to be picked up and many others say their birds want.
Thanks ,
Robyn
