One Year Old and Growing so Fast!

I figured with the new forum for Lorikeets I would post mine so everyone can see how much they have grown! Skittles has more Reddish/Orange on his chest and Starburst is a much brighter more pronounced yellow. Both have really blossomed into really lovely kiddos!

Wow, they are stunning birds and look like well behaved babies Love their names too, how cute is that? Just curious, but how difficult do you find their care to be? I know a lot of people talk about the special diet and all loris are on.

So far on a scale of one to ten I would say care level is a 6 only because ours don't have their wings clipped so I find myself throughout the day picking up food they have dropped on the floor and toys they put in weird places. They are pretty easy to potty train (at least our were) and now that we have finished making them a room with a picture window they can fly in and out of after going to the bathroom it has made life so much easier!

The diet is really easy! We use Linda's Blessing Nectar mix which is the best we have used ever so far. They love the food and it really helps with their temperament (the better the meal the better they behave for some reason) and we blend that with some fruit and a piece of fruit on the side for breakfast and dinner and for snack they get fresh fruit. Sometimes we sprinkle the nectar powder on their food instead of mixing it into liquid because sometimes they just like that better. But care wise I haven't noticed any difficulties since getting into our routine!

We just moved up here to Beaverton in November of last year. It is very beautiful scenery here, and I don't know about everyone else, but I LOVE the moisture.

I bet your glad their potty trained now. IMO potty training is right up there with stepping up when training birds- a MUST. It's so nice not to step in their 'gifts' or find unwanted surprises on the furniture or your clothes. I guess caring for loris must be getting easier because of the wider variety of diets for them on the market. They really are gorgeous birds, I hope you'll be sharing more photos of them in the future!

Beaverton is such a nice area! Great schools and I totally agree about the moisture! We moved here from Dallas, TX a year ago and I tell ya I never want to go through weather like what they have down there ever again! It's just waaaaay to hot! Every now and then I still get a foot full of fruit from their breakfast they like to throw around or if i shoulder them too long they will poop but for the most part they have done such a good job of being mindful of their training! I will keep posting and thanks so much to you and everyone for the lovely compliments! They are so spoiled and make it easy to love them!

They are very pretty! I have great admiration for you to take care of two lories! Glad to hear you have them potty trained... our lory is also potty trained and what a world of difference it makes!
