oops...impulse buy...

So my daughter went to get her hair cut today and right next door is petland ick i know). but they i do enjoy seeing the birds and they have some nice bird toys.

And i found the sweetest little yellow sided!
i hope i wasnt being too spontaneous! after all we are getting a little sulfur crested too in a little over a month!

he/she was just so sweet, and a gcc was my first bird and i have always missed him so much!

he seems to be adjusting quickly and maybe even relieved to have a 'pad' of his own, since he was a little overcrowded with a bunch of other conures.... but he got right into playing with his new toys!
he lets us pet him through the cage but i wont be opening it for a few days.

we decided to name him porkchop
right now he is in my ekkies travel cage but i just ordered him a ae flight cage. can't wait till it gets [/ATTACH]here!

....i think i officially made ranks of crazy bird lady....

Thanks, a pineapple green cheeck was my first ever 'parrot'
we lost him when a pet sitter was irresponsible....

its funny because i would go gaga over the gcc at the pet stores when i had an eckie and cag at home...my husband would always point it out (i had bigger parrots) but there is just something about them! he isnt a bird person until i get them home lol!

but i am so excited to add him to the family and give him an awesome home!
my husband keeps asking when we can show him the java tree!

i know...normally they are either not very into people from everyone poking and bugging them, or there is that piece of glass there preventing me from getting too attached lol!

i gave him a lot of things from a box a friend gave me when she got out of lovebird breeding. perches and such since we had my mother in laws birthday to go to, i had to run home, get him set up then run out again.

i'm off to go by him some nice new perches and some other treats.
its been 7 yrs since i lost my other green cheek, before now i was scared to "replace" him.
i'm happy to have a little clown in my life again

So cute! I got a GCC on impulse too, saving him from Petsmart… and both my husband and I think it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. It was 3 weeks ago, and we cannot imagine our life without Parry now. He is our first ever bird.
So I'm sure you get a lot of happy moments.

he is doing great and was so eager to get into the family going on he insisted we didnt have a break in period.

I am so happy we went for him, i was scared because i still always missed my first GCC.
He has really added the spunk only a conure can!

lol i remember that! i read your post and was like awww my lil green cheek was the best bird i had ever owned and i regret leaving him with that sitter every day! I was really hoping you would go for him!

What a cutie! A was suckered by a Yellow Sided GCC at Petco. Then a month later I went in for some toys and fell in love with his replacement a Sun conure. It took me 4 months to pull the trigger with her.

My husband probably wishes we didn't go into Petco that night as it has led to a macaw lol.
