In my search for a healthy conure, I came across this local CL post: http://tucson.craigslist.org/for/4616740693.html

Any opinions on: 1) taking on a bird that is not a baby; 2) things to look out for (i.e, health, etc)...this particular one does not appear to be in the greatest enclosure.

thanks.

The link says the page has been deleted.
I'd personally stay away from Craigslist if you're looking for a baby bird. Was that where you found the last Sun that you had the unfortunate experience with?
I'd go to a source with more professional breeders such as birdbreeders.com. If you're interested in anyone on there, you can ask here if anyone has heard of them (there are plenty of well known reputable breeders out there). Also, if you let us know where you're located, someone might be able to recommend a breeder for you. All the best to you this time :)

Ps.. I just saw you're around Tuscon AZ ;)

Na, last one I found searching the internet. Horrible experience. It seems Sun or Green Cheeks are hard to come by around here.

Thanks for the link. Doesn't seem like many breeders have good websites to look at.

I talked with Dee from azparrots.com - was very nice and helpful. I think she said they have some Blue Crowns ready to go. They look pretty cool too.

Wow, I'm really surprised that you're having trouble finding a Sun or GCC?? They're both some of the most popular parrot species in the US!

Ooh, Blue Crowns are nice birds I hear. They say in general they have a good temperament and their voice isn't as harsh as a Sun? That might be a good bet?

Ya, it seems it's supply vs demand, unless I go to petco.

I was at Dee's this weekend. There is a little girl there getting a blue crown and he's so adorable. He is always laying upside down on her lap, and he makes the cutest little squeak.

Anyway, can't say enough about how much I love Dee and Jerry. My eclectus is from them, and so will be my blue and gold :)

Actually, in this video I took this weekend (16 seconds in) you can hear the blue crown squeak.

Ya, Dee has been very helpful. We are actually adopting a Sunday from her - picking up next Saturday!

Cool video. I never knew a macaw (or any bird) would act like a purring cat ;)

Awwwh, I know your bird! A girl, right?

There's a little boy who has your bird's sister and he brought his bird in this weekend for a nail trim. The two of them were soooo cute when they saw each other again.

Actually, I'm not sure. I think she said she only has one available and ready to go...so you are probably right. I saw the pics from Sat, they're all beautiful birds! Did you take your macaw home yet?

Yeah, I love looking at all the birds.. soooo pretty.

And nope, no baby for me yet ;-; Probably not until October.
