Hi all! I thought I read something before about a safer type of wall paint to use with parrots but can't find it. I have a bird room that I'm going to repaint this summer. Of course I will take all my birds out of the room and when I paint it I will keep all the windows open and put a towel under the door crack (to be extra careful not to expose them to fumes).

Even though I won't have them anywhere near the room, is there a recommended paint to use when you have parrots just as an extra safety precaution? Thanks!

We used a low VOC paint and had the bird out of the house for a few days and all went well. Most paints are decent nowadays but we can never be too careful!

Since, you are planning this as a Summer project. Set up portable fans, so that they blow the air from that room to the outside. That way, you greatly limit the exposure to other parts of your home.

You going to do a single color`? Or painting like a jungle scene.. with trees an stuff?

I was thinking one color, maybe a sort of sponge-painted color. My husband generously gave me his man cave for my bird room and we need to repaint it when the weather's better with a semi gloss because the walls currently aren't semi gloss...although, I consider the walls to be the fids' works of art composed of dried out chunks of who knows what flung all over the place LOL!

wow, your husband gave up hi man cave for you? I hope you took really good care of him for that. I mean REALLY good care of him
