Bird the budge
I have had my budgie now for about 6 months and hes basically tamed now. he has a big cage to himself with enough space for a buddy. I don't want to get him another budgie and have been thinking about another kind of parakeet species. i.e. a a bourke's parakeet. i'd like to hear your guy's suggestions on birds that could possibly be housed with a budgie. I am aware that all birds are not guaranteed to get along, even another budgie isn't, and would like to just ponder possibilities. I'm mostly thinking about parakeets since their beaks aren't as big as parrots, like a parrotlet's beak. I'm open to hear any ideas as long as theyre not the typical "budgies should ONLY be house with other budgies".

Cockatiels are another species that can be housed with Budgies.

Remember, birds and humans share one trait, even the best matched pair may hate each other-to the death!

Parrotlets don't have huge beaks... they are tiny little things!

I'd personally recommend another budgie since budgies tend to get along best with each other.

If the cage is large enough (as in, a flight cage, 32" x 21" x 35" or larger), then yes, another small bird (wouldn't recommend parrotlet or lovebird) might be okay in the cage.

Bourkes and cockatiels are a lot more alike to each other than either one are to budgies.

I actually have a parrotlet and a parakeet housed together. My parrotlet’s beak is a little bulkier, but she’s still the same size physically and beakily as my parakeet. But yeah you know you don’t have a guarantee of any other bird getting along with another. Definitely whatever you decide on, house them separately first, let them get used to each other, then decide whether to house them together or not. My parrotlet fought me daily to stay in my parakeet’s cage. She won that battle and they both get along so well together. If whatever bird you get does the same, they’re likely ready to be housed together.
