I got my parakeet a wooden playground and she seems to love it but she chews up the wooden house into tiny pieces but doesn’t seem to me ingesting it? Should i just remove it all? It says it’s made up of natural wood and i understand that it’s normal for them to chew up wood, however do you think it’s dangerous ?

My bird chews on his wooden playground and I don't think there is a problem but if you're worried it is your choice to remove it

Personally I think your bird would be much better off if you were to replace this type of playground with a more "open plan" design. The type with the little house is problematic because your hen may well perceive that as a nesting site - indeed by chewing up the inside of the "house" it appears that she might just in fact be trying to turn it into a nestbox. Hen birds will do this and produce eggs whether they have a boyfriend to help them or not! One along the lines of this type perhaps......

Your bird will still chew on the wood, but it won't trigger the same kind of nesting response as one with the little house. :)

You're most welcome! My chronic egg-laying lorikeet hen would just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE a little nest box like that - for all the wrong reasons!
