What about loro? I thought it means parrot in Spanish ๐Ÿค”
Yes that too. Periquito is the word for small parrot/budgie and is sometimes used to describe a medium parrot

I'm half Mexican. Along the border, we might say pajaro for bird, and then loro, papagallo, perico for parakeet, and sometimes cotorra... I'm really not sure what the nuances are, because I am a pocha (Latina whose Spanish is lousy). Then there are all the species names. Rickeybirds are called Burrowing Parrots in the Spanish world, or Loro Barranquero, because they nest in limestone cliff burrows.
