parrotlets

I have conures but my mother in law just got parrotlets and was tokd by someone they need grit and gravel, is this true?

No, parrotlets do not need grit or gravel. I would also stay away from any colored pellets, natural pellets are fine but not the colored ones for p'lets.
We feed ours a mixture of Higgins small safflower gold cockatiel and conure with black oil sunflowers added along with natural pellets and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies
