Hahn's macaw, RIP George, Jenday Conure
I saw a cute little Hahns Macaw today at Bird Haven. I thought maybe I should get him as a companion for Hahnzel, but I noticed he had a disabled foot. I have no issue with it, but wondered if it might cause him to get picked on by my bird.

I began this thread on the conure page accidentally. I am reposting the original question here for more feedback.

Well, since you re-posted, I'll re-post my reply.....

Can't speak about your bird, but I've had a nanday with a deformed wing and the other two nandays I had at the time never bothered her, all three were independents & not in any relationship.....

Will they let you adopt with an option to bring it back if yours takes umbrage with the new one.....

Good luck.....

I don't see much of an issue. My m2 has taken to being friends with our medium sulphur crest who has no upper mandible. I believe it is bird to bird though so one could be sensitive to something, but the foot is so minor compared to a beak or a wing so I think it'd be fine. As weco suggest maybe take her in as a foster if you could?

Its good to hear. I was afraid that what I have seen of wild animals would be replayed to my horror in my own home, where weakness or difference is shunned, and sometimes acted upon violently.
