When I switched Lamont over to pellets over the past week, I put both Roudy Bush and Harrisons Course in her bowl....she eats both but eats more of the Roudy Bush - I want to just feed one or the other but wanted to convert her asap so I tried both - my vet likes Harrisons best but my Eclectus eats Roudy Busch -- It is not going to matter either way because Lamont (Amazon) likes the medium Roudy Bush (she eats mostly holding his food with his feet) where as the eclectus eats the small (he does not hold food with his feet)

Any preferences? why?

I have seen several comparisons on here just wanted a fresh answer before I make my decision.... thanks :)

That's a hard one cause although my vet swears by Harrison's none of my birds would eat it. So I kinda felt any pellet is better then no pellet. Since yours eats both and Harrison's is supposed to be much better I'd stick with that if you don't mind the extra cost. Here I can only get it at the vets office and it costs way more. My birds didnt like Roudy bush either so we feed Zupreem. I've heard great things about both if them.

It's kind of hard to answer, because both Harrison's and boudybush are very good brand. I personally like the Harrison's because its organic. But if your parrot prefer roudybush, then use that.

My vet recommend me to feed Harrison's to my parrots, but it was kind of hard because I had to drive a long way to get it, none of the pet shop around me sells it. I couldn't find roudybush either. So I end up feeding my parrots vetafarm pellets. Lol :D

To be honest, it wouldn't hurt to feed both.... one as a 'back up' in case the other is not available or you run out of it.... although, it's possible you could be disrupting the diet as well by doing that. I can't say what's best, but I know my birds will eat different pellets. They used to be seed junkies that loved fresh foods, too. Then they ate pellets, but it was only one pellet. I was gradually able to get them to eat other pellets, and they are all currently getting Harrison's.

Although the little birds are eating seeds still.

Harrison's is supposedly the best (I'm not so sure about that) but Roudybush is supposedly pretty good, too. I've fed both. Harrison's High Potency might be the way to go for 6-12 months, then switch to either Roudybush or Harrison's Adult Lifetime?

I buy my pellets online. It's cheaper, even with shipping costs.

Thanks so much for the advice - I order most everything online and can find some really good deals and a lot of time free shipping!

I am going to keep both pellets in her bowl for now and each day put less of the Roudy Bush until it is all Harrisons - If the vet recommends Harrisons that is what I am going to do since she is overweight and middle aged.....however I am keeping my Ekkie on Roudy Bush because he does not have any issues and that is what the breeder I purchased him from uses and has wonderful results with her Ekkies (I will just have to explain this to Dr. Stewart!)

This forum is so awesome - thank you again for helping me decide - sometimes it just takes others help to make a decision.....

Lol, you like.. What do you perrot like?

Ville like Harrison, I have tested other brand but he prefer Harrisons

I agree with feeding both - if you can. There's nothing wrong with that.

My Sugar currently rotates through 3 pellets every day, some days eating more of one than another, and then the next day, switching it. So while your bird may have eaten more Roudybush currently, that could change.

There is nothing disruptive about feeding more than one type of pellet, as long as it's done so regularly. I give Sugar a combination of Harrisons, Zupreem Naturals and a couple of Pellet-Berries in the mornings. I refill with Harrisons and Zupreem as needed and she gets a couple more Pellet-Berries at night. I've been thankful to have all three at various different times, such as when it was difficult to get Harrisons, when I've run out of Pellet-Berries and had a difficult time finding them, or when the Zupreem hadn't been taken out of the freezer in time and still had to defrost, so I had to supplement.

Do you eat the same thing every day? I know I don't! I mean, yes, I like my coffee daily. I even tend to eat eggs almost every morning for breakfast, but aside from that, I don't eat the same thing day in and day out. I don't think my birds should have to either, unless that's their preference (which it is for my Loki).

Just my $2

Both or either one, they are both excellent brands.
The vets here recommend and sell both.

I prefer Harrisons, and lucky for me Letta my plum head loves it! Working on getting my ringneck switched to it now. Sometimes they take to the pepper flavor better.

Your vet recommends Harrison because it can only be purchased though a vet distributor. They do have a monetary interest in that product. I'm not implying that it's not a good product. Variety is what your zon needs. Too much of anything is not good.If your zon will eat both then take advantage of that and he'll be healthier for it.
