Hi
We finally got our little boy to the vet, he got a good health check and gets his microchip in 2 weeks. I learned that a bird at 3 mo should never get it's wings clipped-ours was done at the store. It's quite dangerous for their clumsy to have them clipped before 6 months-horrible pet store!
We talked a lot about feeding and training-but I'm confused by some of it-it was a lot of info.
He was put on a seed diet, Birdeez Hookbill. Our Avian says no no no, he needs pellets and the seed and such should be used for training and treats-he should eat pellets and fresh veggies/fruits.
So-we want to teach him to remain on his perch. He's way to curious about the reflection he sees in the legs of the coffee table, getting under our West Highland-her hair is quite fun to pull, and our other dog has nice toes to bite. Vet says he's basically too stupid to know better and we are putting him in danger-I agree.
We want to teach him to remain on the perch. If he gets off once, he gets put back up there, the second time he goes back in the cage. When do I give him treats? I'm finding any treats I have a crying bird (did I mentioned he was weaned at 9 weeks-stupid stores)

Help...

seeds are great for training.

my toos are on a mix of Zupreem Nut Blend, Fruit Blend, Veggie Blend & Natural Blend and they get fresh fruit in the am & fresh veggies in the pm.

nutria berries as a mid day snack.

toos are very curious, try some foot toys to keep him occupied when perch training
