Paco. A hybrid conure.
I maybe wasted my money and invested in the wrong stuff but I got Paco a table top java tree stand today that I plan on wrapping some hemp or twine around so it’s less slippery and then I got a 5 foot perch on wheels with two food bowls and it’s just a wooden dowel essentially .. not even a good perch .. but I want to bring him around the house with me when I move rooms. What does everyone else have and what are the pros and cons? Share your knowledge and experiences 🙏🤗❤️

shoulders and arms are pretty good and inexpensive

my place is a little odd, it's a 2 story open plan (the bedroom overlooks the living room

I had a rope perch hanging from the skylight which he enjoyed and one up in the kitchen he didn't bother with (the clock on the wall was more fun)

Apart from that he would just hang where he could stand. I keep toying with the idea of a playstand with a future companion but I'm not too convinced, maybe when I move house in the future

Saying that you can easily change that stand, just get a good bit of untreated branch, drill some holes in it and bolt that to the stand BAM! you got a good perch. As for the Java tree I saw some macaw ones last year (and nearly fainted at the price) advice I heard there was to get a bit of sandpaper and lightly sand it so they get used to it

I have a play-stand it's called my shoulder, and I can barely get him off of it. If I got a play-stand it would probably go un-used...we are so bonded. If I'm home he's on me helping me do whatever I need to do. If your gcc would like a play-stand I'd try a few things, I kind of envy you if your GCC would be complacent at a play-stand, but for me it would be a waste of wood I feel.

Ha! I knew I’d make several rookie mistakes

It’s hard when you’re new at this. I can’t decide what is one persons opinion over what is factual bird law

YOU ARE AWESOME KATEMYSHKIN!!!!!!!!! Yeah gccs prefer to micromanage their humans.... also got a closer pic and what color is under his wings ....we can help identify him/her

Levi has two of the table top java trees. I added the soft side of Velcro on the branches for a firmer grip for him. Once I saw him sliding. It works very well for an inexpensive quick fix.

The problem I have to overcome before letting him on my shoulder is that he’s a bad little thug. We are not bonded because I’ve only had him a few weeks and he had a previous owner for 5 years. When he’s on my shoulder he won’t come off without biting and acting like I’m killing him. Dramatics! Unless of course, he feels like coming off my shoulder.. then he comes down with no fuss. I am hoping a movable perch will keep him involved in all my activities while giving him his own safe space.

His head has a maroon hood like the pattern of the blue hooded conure only it’s a maroon hood. His tail feathers are the same color and his breast has a red color on it but not as dark as his face and tail. The flight feathers are a dark blue. I’ll get pictures. Thanks!

Ahhhhhhh well even my bird doesn't want to come off my shoulder.....thats not bad that's just love. The trick is finding a trick, like when my bird poops I change my shirt...I hold the new shirt in my hand and reach to put him on another chair....he's like oh it's temporary and steps down fine. That is not lack of training thats just a heavily bonded bird.

get the head and try to get under the wings....theres many flavors of gcc the coloring is the only way to tell.

Good for you for wanting to include your new friend in as many activities as possible! A smaller sized java stand sounds like a good way to keep him mobile. Kiwi has a big stainless swing. Most of the time it hangs on an old-fashion bird cage stand by the window but it is also able to be taken off the stand and carried around the house. He also has a big play stand shaped like a tree (only made of plastic) and while it could roll around, it's just too big to be a viable portable option.

Our portable swing:

And it hangs on one of these:

Man, I don't know if it's just my bird or what, but he doesn't need any grippy stuff on any perches. He climbs around on his smooth stainless swing and the metal stand like it's nothing! The plastic play tree too. If your bird doesn't have grip problems I don't see a need to provide gripping material on perches. It seems it would exercise the feet better to not have constant "help". And while he is allowed on my shoulder, he finds my shoulder too small and it's uncomfortable for both of us, Kiwi typically hitches a ride on my hand instead (but he's a lot bigger than a conure!).

I made a poop cape out of an old pillow case and a broach
