Perjo - Female CAG hatch Nov 2015
Lots of feathers showing up everywhere, including some pretty significant sized grey feathers. She's isn't preening or plucking any more than usual, seems in good spirits, normal behavior (except she seems to really want me to rub her head a lot more this week, her entire head, every inch).

Does this go by quickly?
Will I know if she is suffering or struggling with this?
What's the best thing I should do with her diet in the short term?

She's not taking to coconut oil very well, did start eating flaxseed though.

Smokey,my TAG handled molting pretty good..ya she did get extra cranky and I just showered her a little extra. unfortunately she was a "don't touch me!" bird so I couldn't skritch her, unlikeAmy and BB..give her about 2 weeks.

It's funny, I've quietly and randomly told her "no picking " when I see her picking at herself too long.

She knows what I mean and usually stops for second, waits for me to look away, does it again, I repeat it, then stops and moves about her cage.

During a molt is it common to find our fids with a feather in their mouth?

Perjo seems to like to chew on a feather she plucked or found.

She may want you to break some of the head pin feathers for her. Plum usually wants me to do this for him. Care needs to be taken and only do the ones that give easily so as not to hurt her or put her off having it done. As said sprays or bathing often helps and if she is picking too much try a preening toy to try and take her mind off her own feathers.
