I wad reading some old posts and came across the one about rescue centers and pit bulls. Balloons used to be in California but they moved to New Orleans. They rescue, rehabilitate and adopt out pit bulls. They also have a special home (yes a real home) for rescues that have to make Viallobos their forever home.

Almost forgot the owners husband is a convicted felon (public knowledge mentioned in show). Because of this she only hires felons on parole. She does exclude those convicted of sex crimes and crimes against children. Again public knowledge. Aired on TV.

I have heard of their program and think it's great personally. I cannot imagine anyone having issues with rehabilitating/providing permanent housing to the dogs is a bad thing. Also, providing a job to felons is great too. These people have paid their debt to society and I'd much rather them be working and making an honest living than having no job opportunities and turning back to a life of crime. Some people really do learn a lesson in prison and do want to become a productive member of society after release and just need a second chance. Another thing people forget is many 'felonies' are drug or DUI related, some "sex crimes" are totally consensual between an 18 year old guy and 17 year old girl kind of thing where mommy and daddy got pissed and pressed charges. Not all felons are violent killers/robbers or pedophiles and rapists.

This woman actually inspired part of my dream which is to someday run a parrot rescue along side a breeding program working with endangered species. I want to employ foster kids who have aged out of the foster care system and are often dumped by the state with literally not even the skills to do theirs win laundry or manage finances AT ALL, and sometimes haven't even finished high school.

I disagree with some of the show just because I feel like they really don't do anything to train the dogs to have their best chance of permanently staying in a home, but then I just have to ask myself what right I have to tell them they aren't doin ENOUGH when they are doing so much more than I am. Also, as someone with relatives who have been in prison, including someone who was convicted of a see crime which he DID commit, I am thankful that someone out there is giving convicts a shot at gainful employment.

I'm not a big fan of Pitbull and Parolees but I think the whole idea is nice. The kind of parallel between the criminals and pitbulls is nice too. Not every criminal's done something atrocious (some crimes don't even harm anyone but the criminal) and some of them deserve a second chance. Many of them were just mislead and fell into drug dealing and the like. Just like not every pitbull should be considered a vicious attack dog, and many of them deserve second chances with families that will love and care for them!

Though, I am really glad sex offenders and pedophiles are omitted. I honestly don't believe they deserve second chances.

I have to agree with the point Kiwi made about young people like 16 and 17 in some states and the 17 yr old is convicted. 17 and 18 in other states.
