fleeting thought time...
So there are an increasing amount of ringnecks in our area being listed on our version of craigslist lately. We have the time/patience/finances to take in another bird or two, (or four........ ) however not the indoor space.
If we were to have an aviary installed, of 'decent' (define?) size - and we brought home a couple of these ring necks, quarantining and what not, would it be okay to put them in an aviary together? Because inside, we always make sure each bird has it's own cage & space....
They wouldn't be ignored in the aviary. For all intensive purposes they'd be treated just the same as the indoor parrots with foraging opportunities and toy circulation etc. There would be less of a pressure on human interaction, although I'd hope to win them over with time. They're coming from cages with dowel perches and 'possibly' a toy, from owners who don't know about / can't handle bluffing. They're between 9months - 3 years. Given they've been hand reared, would it be cruel to do this?
After considerations, pro's and con's either way, ready to learn.
Cheers guys.
