Playgym time!

So tonight is their first night on their playgym outside the bird room. While my Macaw is off in another room, I wheeled them into the living room for a little bit. Here are some pictures of the girls and their playgym.

I used a wooden dowel perch to take them off their cages, but then had them step onto my hand.
Lucy flew up to my shoulder on the way back to their cages for ni-night time, but she let me pick her up with my other hand without biting me. Its progress. I'm trying to go slow and not invite a a bite, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to take a few. They are both use to using the threat of biting to scare people away from stepping up or coming off their cage.

Love the play gym! and the girls are beautiful... I always have a hard time realising how tiny birds are without their feathers... With their feathers they look so robust..

They were cute, Gracie kept sliding down to see what Lucy was eating whenever I handed them treats like a grape or snow peas. She'd fling hers down after a minute then inch down to see if she could get it from Lucy.

Is it my imagination or is Gracie more fluffy? Glad you are moving slowly with them. I think that is what they need.

I think she has more down feathers coming in. Though I'm trying not to watch them too much for fear that i'll gain hope then she'll rip them all out again. I've been sprinkling avicalm on her dry food, not sure if its that or the change of enviorment that has her occupied.

She clucks like a scared chicken when she doesn't want to be picked up. I've never heard that sound before from a parrot, lol
