Reptar - White Fronted Amazon Rescue
My White Fronted Amazon appears to be bleeding in his red feathers on his face. He is bleeding on both sides and seems to re-open the wound when he fluffs his feathers. We have also noticed that we can hear him breathing through his nose.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

A vet visit is the best course of action in any questionable situation. It sounds like he may have cut himself. Does he rub his face/beak against the bars of his cage? Or is there something that he may have hurt himself with in his cage? Birds only have a small amount of blood, so, any bleeding would be an emergency to me. Good luck.

I would get him emergency treatment if he is bleeding on both sides of his face and is breathing through his nose I wouldn't leave it as you may end up with a dead bird come tomorrow

I am working on a vet visit as we speak. She has been sleeping a lot today too. Thank you all for the advice.

Another note, I am at work and am being relayed information through my GF. She just stated that she can only hear the bird breathing when he is eating. Is this normal?

I wouldn't say its normal if you can only hear him breath when he is eating I hope your bird gets the treatment needed to get him well again

Got an appointment at 5:30 est. I will be sure to update!

Crossing my fingers, hope all turns out well. Its so scary when their sick, please let us know how it goes.

Well...results are in and Mom and Dad over reacted! It would appear that Reptar has a full bill of health and some new toys and treats to make up for the vet visit. Thank you all for your help, vet says that the red my gf saw was actually her red feathers overlapping the white ones lol. Better safe then sorry :D

Glad all is well.

Thats the best kind of result from a vet haha, false alarm! :) Glad all is well!

The best possible outcome!

I've made that mistake before myself. Kazi has a few red tinged feathers on his leg and around his forehead and the first time I saw them I thought he'd been injured. He was highly annoyed at my attempts to make sure! :D
