I read on a care sheet that ringnecks aren't as affectionate as many parrots and they don't really like to "cuddle".

For those of you with them: please share their temperament and behavior.
Also please share how loud they are.
Would you say this is a good choice for a companion bird?

Ollie doesn't like a cuddle. Tolerates stepping up but would prefer perching rather than being handled.
Will be quite vocal once returned back to cage if handled. As if to tell me off for removing him from his home.

Search my other posts to see the noise he makes.

thanks for sharing. I know every bird is an individual, but overall an IRN probably isn't the best choice for me.

They sure are stunning though.

My husbands IRN can be quite affectionate with him, and will "ask" for "lovin's" with body language and squawks that he only makes when he wants scritches....

My baby is too young to be able to tell with yet...

My conure, who passed away, was incredibly affectionate...he loved to cuddle, kiss, and get and give lots of attention...from what I understand, that is more the norm with GCC than not...

I definitely understand every bird is an individual. I love the look of IRNs but it seems "in general" they are a less affectionate parrot.
I have read similar things about green cheek conures, they were another main option.

However, I am leaning towards a Hahns macaw. I believe they have everything I'm looking for. A macaw has always been a dream bird of mine.

I appreciate the help!
