Plucking or just normal molt?

Hello,

Yoshi has dropped heaps of feathers this past month. Most of it was in the first couple of weeks and not much more since then but I have noticed a couple of empty patches on his body. One underneath on hist chest area and one on his left wing.

Pictures are attached below. Is this normal? The one on the wing in particular looks like it has been cut off as you can still see a little twig like part sticking out a little.

His behaviour is normal and for the most part all the feathers he has dropped all look normal as in not over-preened or blood on the end which I have read may indicate plucking.

He is now a 1 year and 6-7 months old. He only re-grew his flight feathers for the first time a few months ago. They were clipped when I bought him from the breeder and it took a full year and a couple of months to re-grow.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have no advice for you but I just wanted to say how gorgeous he is!

Yoshi is a very handsome fellow!

From the photos I don't think you have anything to worry about. Considering Yoshi's recent molt, it appears to be one or only a few feathers that are bothering him. My U2 has a place on her breast that gets sore every time new feathers come in, she preens it until she's satisfied with the new feathers, I think it must be very uncomfortable until the feathers mature.

Frequent baths in plain water and a little time should take care of it.
