Both my birds have rope swings in their cages, and pepper has just started using his after giving it the evil eyes for the last year. Now he loves it, but I don't love the poop! I can't get it off. Would some homemade mixture or poop-off (don't know where to buy this) get the poop off the swing? The swing is in excellent shape, no shredding, but this poop is defying my ability to clean it!

Help!

I use HOT water with a little Dawn dish detergent and add GSE (grapefruit seed extract) and use a stiff scrub brush......make sure to rinse well..... I do this at least once a week on all rope perches. I clean the cement/pumice and wood perches with the same solution.

Yeah, they LOVE to poop on the rope perches!

I scrub off the poop and then stick them all in the dishwasher and run the sanitize cycle (no soap). It works great on cotton and sisal ropes although the sisal smells like wet hay when it comes out of the dishwasher :D

lol. Thank you both. I will have to try these out...don't know why the rope becomes the poop swing. :)
