Popcorn seems to be settling in. My husband and I had a 4 day trip planned beginning 4 days after Popcorn came home, so our 21 yo son was responsible for the care of 3 dogs and 3 birds. I got a text while we were gone that Popcorn is crazy. Apparently, Popcorn was walking around my son's chair "chanting". I told him he didn't have much to worry about unless Popcorn started lighting incense.
He flies more at our house than he did at the breeder's, but it still seems to be his least favorite form of locomotion. His favorite room is the kitchen. He love to open cupboards and drawers and empty them for me. He knew that I wanted to reorganize, right?
He's talking more and we're starting to understand what he's saying. He said "Good morning, Popcorn" very clearly this morning when we uncovered his cage. He laughs now, which we're taking as a good sign. Eating, drinking and pooping all seem to be going well, too.
We've been bad and didn't quarantine him. Health isn't an issue due to the history of all 3 birds. The biggest hurdle is aggression. Max has never liked Jade, but they have a good little detante established. With Popcorn in the mix, Max still doesn't like Jade and now he has Popcorn to dislike, too. All is good as long as Popcorn stays off Max's perch. Jade doesn't like Popcorn because he sits on her parents. There hasn't been any fighting and we keep a very close eye on everyone.
We know we'll be getting Popcorn back eventually due to his age and my in-laws' ages, and he'll probably come visit when they do. So, I'm actually glad that we'll have him for about a month to let everyone at least get familiar with each other.
