- Blueheaded Pionus-born May 2019
This is what I noticed so far the past month and a half since he stopped asking for formula and 'grew up'.
-A decrease in vocalization throughout the day. Volume and frequency. Also sounds deeper now.
-No more head bobbing(I miss this
)
-No more begging sounds
-Doesn't respond vocally anymore when I look at him from a distance(miss this too).
-Learns new sounds almost daily and seems to be trying to say words. The human-like sounds he's trying to make are still unintelligible though.
-Less aggression
Got anything to add? Mine's still cuddly and good with other people though so that's good. But at 6 months old and fully weaned I gotta say if you get a young bird you should really enjoy those early months of its life because the bird will start changing soon.
I am very curious if there will be major changes up untill adulthood and even after(someone told me their Pionus was no longer cuddly after being about 3 years old).
