OK can we at least agree geese aren't birds? I mean if they are, they are the worst birds......now ducks and swans I like but.....yeah geese are just dicks.

Cool eagle and magpie though...

My opinion.

Actually… Birds aren’t real. If it flies it spies!

The geese and swans are the defense units of the water, skies, and land. They are the optimal unit of defense, offense, and spyware!

There's a reason why some people call Canada Geese 'Cobra Chickens'! LOL!

Yeah ....ok I agree but the geese are still dicks.... and need a firmware update.....

When I was working (El Segundo Ca) there was a pair of Canadian geese that would hang around the campus.
We had lots of tasty grass and few predators could get over/through the perimeter fence.
Management was upset by the amount of poop they left all over.

They tried putting up these flat cutout foxes .
nothing worked.

I found them to be relatively friendly after sharing some Cheetos with them.

On my last day of work I was forced to walk 1/2 round the plant . On my walk around I found there nest sight.
It was on top of an out building that had a lot of tree debris that they made a nest out of.

So what your saying is the geese where using government and educational property without a permit. Yeah see I'm right.

You guys should see the geese we have around here. They RUN the city. Walking right in the middle of the road everywhere, not afraid of ANYTHING. I do find it humorous to see them taking up the entire road and listen to all the cars honking at them :ROFLMAO: They don’t care.

Very nice birding pics! The Eagle is super cool. And you do have to admit the geese babies are awfully cute.

Well obviously! They are government drones and defense units āœ‹šŸ™„

Thank you! I have some more but I’m too tired to upload them tonight. I will do it tomorrow though, but after being in anchorage for 5 hours, I am more tired than a bird after a long day of destroying everything in sight!

Feeding the birds in the back of the house isn't enough for my grandma, she's put a bowl out front and a duck eats from there, but so do the geese. When I head out half the time there is a duck and goose out front now. Gparents have a dog but I think that's better than a guard dog - I'm worried it will interfere with people bringing us packages, though they've been friendly so far.

I will say the babies like in your photos are adorable.

Your grandma sounds chill! I aspire to be that way if I live to 60+ lol

Beautiful pictures! I love the eagle and the Tree Swallow, but I have to admit I’m a sucker for baby anything; geese included 🄰.

God forbid Canada Geese decide they like your lawn- they will conjugate, hang out, and deposit massive amount of goose Sh#$ on it, killing the grass and making a royal mess! But I love birds. All birds. There are no bad birds. Just birds you wish would go away.

Thank you! These birds really are such striking and magnificent creatures! The tree swallows, along with several other species of birds, are new in my area and are birds I have either always wanted to see, or never knew existed! And I am SO ecstatic that I got so up close and personal with the swallow here! Little guy was following us around and seemed genuinely curious. Perhaps it was because of my grandma’s fun looking flamingo bag? Or the shiny lens of my camera?

I’m still absolutely shocked by how well the eagle pic came out considering it was near a cell tower that was maybe a mile away? Absolutely incredible for such a small camera! He soared overhead on our way back, a bird or small mammal clenched in his talons. I really wish I snapped a pic, but my camera takes forever to zoom and take pics. Quite an experience though!

Yessss omg baby animals are the cutest! Even birds when they look like weird little tumors! Goslings, chicken chicks, and ducklings are the absolute cutest fresh from the egg! And imo, stay pretty darn cute into adulthood!

I love the swallows! We don't seem to have them here. So striking!
Me too! I think I found a new favorite native bird! So blue, tiny, and cute! I just want to scoop it up and give it a treat and hug it and give it all my love haha

hmm… sending you some cardinals and swallows!

MUAHAHAHAHAHA sending a goose flock 😌

From what I have seen of the swallows their maneuverability puts a cockatiel to shame.

They are good birds and are good at nabbing insects on the fly.
If Alaska has anything in abundance it’s flying insects.
It’s a beautiful state, don’t get me wrong.
But between the bugs and the massive difference in daylight hours winter/summer I don’t think I could take it.

At least we don’t have medically significant venomous animals, a lot of people, or severe pollution! And omg yes. Flying bugs everywhere. Mosquitoes, flies, beetles, etc. but id take those over severely venomous animals any day haha
