I've had my Quaker for roughly 22 years and this is the first health related incident that I've ever had. I noticed today that the right eye seems to be swollen and puffy. Im trying to bring the bird to a vet tomorrow but in the meantime does anyone have the suggestions on what I may be dealing with and anything I could do at the moment before going to the vet to try and help?

poor baby. I am of no help but I am hoping the vet takes care of your cutie.

Saline water solution that they sell for washing CONTACT LENSES. Don't use the eye drops for human eyes- it's got stuff in it that is meant for only human eyes. I believe most pharmacies sell it.

Most likely he scratched his eye, or both eyes would be affected. Good advice above. I would flood it or soak a cotton ball and gently pat it a bit. No rubbing!

Thank you for the suggestion on the saline solution. I was unable to get avian vet appointment yesterday but they told me to call today for any availability which again they didn't have. A ER visit for a non AV Specialist was $300 just to walk in the door which I thought was ridiculous.

However, this morning the eye looked much better but still a little swollen. I used the saline solution in the afternoon and right now the eye looks much better. So I'm hoping it's not an infection but as suggested, it was scratched

That's great news, so glad his eye is looking better. How is he doing today?
