Forever in my heart. Sunny the Corella
My 90 year old uncle has suddenly declined in health, he only has a matter of days..if that.. to live. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. And to make matters sadder his beloved Rainbow Lorikeet, his only companion, is now left in the house all alone as he will pass away at the hospital.
When the paramedics arrived at his house a few days ago Bottle top was sitting on my uncles shoulder and jumping all over him while he lay in bed almost unresponsive.
Thankfully a close friend is feeding and checking on the bird daily until something more permanent can be found.
Unfortunately I live in a different state and have a young toddler so cannot rush up to Queensland. And regrettably not set up to have a Rainbow lorikeet that has never been caged.
Bottletop is at least 10 years old as that’s how long my uncle has had her. Sex unknown (we’ve always called her a she).
She was found outside my uncles house unable to fly, she jumped straight onto his shoulder so wasn’t wild.
She’s noisy, funny and has and obsession with lids. Hence her name ‘Bottletop’. She can say a few words and is very sweet. She is flightless.
Only the best of homes will be considered. A home for life.
If we cannot find her a lovely home we will have her put to sleep as that’s what my uncle wants. She was his best friend, especially after his brother died a few years ago and no other family nearby.
currently in Queensland, Australia (Tablelands area).
I could possibly get her down to Victoria.
If you could offer a home or know of any rescues locally please get in contact with me. Thank you so much .
