Sootie has been molting for what feels like forever...I would guess at least a month and a half. She's in a medium molt but so far she hasn't lost any flight feather or tail feathers. She hasn't even got any pins in her tail where new feathers are growing in. I'm wondering how long a molt lasts and how long before she might lose these? I'm keen for her to molt her clipped flight feathers so she can get new ones in and start flying again!

I feel like Boomer is constantly molting all year round because I would always feel pin feathers somewhere on his body. Some months he molts more heavily, other months there would only be a pin or two.

It took him over a year to completely molt out his clipped wing feathers (he came that way from the breeder). I have never seen or felt pins from his wing and tail areas. It just kind of secretly grew out. Except the time he released all of his tail feathers as an anti-predatory response at the vet office. I could really see the pins growing out of his rear that time (freaky). But that's more an exception than the norm.
