Is there an average age in which birds start their first molt? Banner's birthday was March 19th, so he's about 5 months old now, if my math is right. I've been finding little feathers in his cage - the ones that are from his chest, mainly. I'm super paranoid about plucking, so of course when I come home and find the feathers I think "OMG he's plucking!" in a total panic.
I did notice that on his chest/lower neck when he moves around I can see the grey downy feathers underneath the pretty green ones in certain spots. I hope he's just molting? We were at the vet on Tuesday and he didn't notice anything, so I hope it's all fine.
