We saw some cracked coconut at Giant food yesterday and decided to pick up a small container. They sell it with their small portions of pineapple, kiwi, watermelon, and is refrigerated.

I know many parrot foods have coconut in them but is is dried and shredded.

Are their any issues feeding Arika raw coconut (aside from the usual washing, etc.) ? Thought it is better to pose the question and be safe.

We are thankful that we have a lot of experienced people here on the forum.

I searched the food forum and coconut mainly shows up as coconut oil (which we put a drop on her broccoli sometimes) , or a reference to dried in some foods.

Thanks

I cant imagine there is. Parrot companies use both the pulp and the hulls for parrot products. I’ve been considering getting one for Parker myself actually. But the thought of going through the process of opening it up is a bit too daunting for me.

We cheated, paid a little extra and purchased it in a sealed plastic container already broken into smaller pieces from Giant Foods.

We plan on giving her some for lunch to see how it goes. We'll let you know.

Thanks

I gave my two coconut from in the shell today, actually. I bought a whole one to cut in half for a fish tank cave (I have also done so to make bird toys). Both of mine said thanks but no, but the chicken ate a bunch. I made coconut chicken a couple days ago and Finnegan loved the sauce on the chicken and Chicky ate all her rice with the sauce (she doesn't like chicken--ha ha full circle).

Update, she loves it! Glad we found something else she likes.
We cut a little bit into small pieces and put it in with her breakfast veggies.
Don't want to over do it.

Thanks for the feedback
