Tonight after work we are going to meet a perspective new addition. He's suspected to be a hybrid of U2/citron or sulpher. He's 10 years old. Please help me with questions we should ask or things to look for. Let you know what we find and hopefully more pics..

Thanks!

Ask about past including vet history, behavioral past, diet, toys, noise level(you can fix all of this if needed). Why they are giving it up. Is he afraid of anything, does he like other animals if you have a dog or cat. Ask anything and everything that could change in your house and be sure to get the past because this can come back to haunt you if you don't find out everything about his past life and homes.

The past is definitely an issue as this is a rehome of a recent rehome. The original owner apparently lost interst in him. He only had about 30 min cage free time. The current owner had intentions of giving him a forever home but the family dog had other plans. He goes after Butch even when he's in the cage. The current owner doesn't feel it's fair for Butch to be cooped up all the time and the wife won't get rid of the dog. Butch is great with his whole family. We found out the diet and its about the same we do for our current birds.

Is there anything that we should look for on him physically that might be indicative of an issue?

Thanks

just get a weight on him if possible. if you can see in the back of his throat and it has white hairs that means he needs more vitamin a. and just overall watch him and how he ineracts.. did you end up taking him in?

We are bringing him home today. Can't wait. It should be interesting. Have to clear some space in a spare room for quarantine time.

Great I am so happy for you:). Keep use updated on how he is and don't hesitate to ask questions about him.

So far so good. I did get a bit of an injury but it was an accident. Took a VERY sharp nail to the back of the neck. Don't ask long story. Lol. Got him home and started setting his cage up. With fresh toys and perches. We took him to our bird shop for a badly needed mani/pedi. Had to deal with those nails first thing. After all the excitement today he was resting calmly in a spare bedroom. He is quite the chatter box with at least 30 different words/phrases.

Congrats.

In my experience, 'toos are a different personality entirely from our other parrots. Not better, not worse, just different.

Enjoy the journey!
