Ran a search and nothing came up immediately, does anyone have a bird that LOVES their AVN?

Wondering if anyone has a story about a bird that didn't mind or loved going to their vet. This might get zero reposts.... Oh well I'm curious.

I don’t know that Button likes it exactly, but last time I took him he was a perfect little gentleman. Not a peep was made…not even when they cut a toenail short to take blood. Ava is pretty good too, although more nervous. That said, I don’t know how many times she’s been to the vet. The two times I’ve taken her may be the only times she’s gone.

My CAG doesn't mind going to the vet. She also goes on frequent outings. She doesn't know if a trip will end up at the vet Like with my pups, I give lots of verbal praise. The ride means stops so she can people watch. Often a trip to the local PetSmart. There she looks at toys. If she touches it then she will play with it at home. She knows that the ride home means a stop for a favorite banned food. French fries! She's got the staff firmly on her side. She waits quietly. She doesn't like nails or beak trim. Praise, reassurance and routine aids in this. A pic as we wait in exam room.

let me rephrase that 'he doesn't mind going to the AVN, except for yesterday" WHoo boy this was one pissed off parrot. He made screams that I never heard before!! Blood curdling!

Has he forgiven you?

My macaw happily goes in his dog crate to be taken to the vet. He MUST know what is coming, because vet trips are the only time that crate is used. Once he gets into the exam room my normally silent bird begins to squawk loudly. He HATES the vet! It takes all her power to restrain him in a towel. It is not an enjoyable experience for anyone. We only go to the vet twice a year for nail trims. If we travel and need to put him in boarding at the vet’s office, he is calm and gentle with any other person at the clinic. It is only the vet he dislikes intensely.

I always schedule the vet first thing so I can get them in the carriers before I turn on the lights. Then they know.....But they alway forgive once we go back home. It wasn't me it was the bird torturer, that's why you always let the vet take the bird out and do his/ her job, never participate..

Exactly. That's why we have the drive home banned French fries! The blown kisses I get are great.

Ona does! Mostly. She loves the attention and everyone looking at her. Her last appointment she danced and talked ❤️ Her first ever vet appointment she flew straight to the vet’s shoulder as soon as she entered the room - vet was very surprised! Now, when they need to do something more invasive she is less friendly and more bitey.

Otto flirted with everyone at the vets. If he had me and bell he was happy.
One visit Otto asked the vet "whatcha doing, pretty? You want to kiss me? I'm a pretty boy!" while being held (manhandled) to get his nails trimmed.

Such a sweetheart! Nameliss talks from the safety of me and when we are leaving.

We all miss Otto. How are you holding up?
