Recommendations needed

Hello! I posted my introduction post in New Members last night so you can find some more info in that... but more or less, Maggie (my +/- 3 month old Quaker) sortof fell into my lap about 2 weeks ago so I’m still very much in the beginner learning phase...

When I picked her up, I just bought the cage she was already in (approximately 23Lx19Wx27H”and the top opens up into a play area. You can see a lot of it in the pictures I’ve linked), the food they recommended (which ended up being a SEED MIX) (I’ve already started transitioning to pellets), and they included the toys and perches that were in her cage. I have bought some new toys and perches.... but I’m looking for recommendations on a new bigger cage, the best perches for her, food and treats, toys, and whatever else that I’m not thinking of at the moment... I figure there’s no one better to ask than experienced Quaker parents!! Help me please!! All of the options I’m finding are overwhelming.

Put your fingers together like you are making an ok sign , then spread your finger and thumb apart by an inch and a half. You want at least one perch that big around. This will let them rest their feet. They may market this size for macaw or cockatoo, but you want one that big around. Most perches are sold in to small. Even my Budgie choose these supper large perches more often than not!!

Just my two cents on a long-range idea for perch selection...

I really recommend getting those nail-trimming perches... they can eliminate nail-trimming, which was always so stressful for me and the Rb. It took a few years, but I eventually established a pattern/rotation that keeps him trimmed. I haven't had to do his nails in 20-plus years. I keep a dowel as the main "highway" down the middle of the cage, but the special cement/trimmer/textured perches are all over.
A few brands... but there are many: Polly's Sand Walk... Pumice Perch... Trimmer Perch...
Be sure to introduce them gradually: they're abrasive to their tender feet at first. I LOVE them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are smooth on top and abrasive underneath. Very easy to install/clean, oo.
Sweet Feet and Beaks Pedicure Perch xsmall for parrots, Feather Fantasy
May take a while to get the right combinations/locations, but was worth it for me and the Rb.

Awesome!! I’ll get that in my cart now! I had bought 2 that are probably 1-1 1/2 inch in diameter and have 2 flat perches in her cage. I have noticed that she uses the flat ones most. Thanks for your help!!

This guy makes good custom perches and is very helpful if you email (you could potentially make your own, but that would require a knowledge of where the wood came from etc, as hardware store wood is often unsafe; it cannot be treated or power-washed etc)--he also has a perch size-guide somewhere other than this page...
Perches should not be uniform in width or they can get bumble-foot.
