Forrest -Yellow sided Green Cheek Conure, Nacho- Sun Conure
As you know I got my Sun Conure Nacho from a family who was moving out of state, don't totally understand why they had to rehome. They were very picky who he went toand they all cried when he left. He is such a sweet bird. These people truly care about him and I get emails from them all the time and send pics of him at least twice a week with updates. It is so nice to know they truly care. Just had to share because we hear so much of the other side of this coin it's nice to know that these kind of people do exist.

Yes not all rehoming is for bad reasons. Sometime life gets in the way no matter what we do. Sometime we can find ways around to keep pets sometimes we can't. We were going to retire in CA in 3 years now with the Quackers we are haveing to change our plans or rehome the Quakers so we choice to look for a state with sun and beach that will allow Quakers. See we are lucky to be able to choice some people don't. That's part of life that sucks.

its nice to know there are some good people still left in the world

"Life is what we make of it"... it is indeed unfortunate how it gets made for people at times... :20_grumpy

I also keep contact with both of my bird's previous owners. Both of mine were loved in their previous homes. I also have a re-homed dog (my gsp), im her sixth home, the home before me still gets updates and we've had her for 2yrs now. Keeping contact with Romes previous owners helped us in the beginning, her transition was pretty rough. Its interesting how you end up getting connected to people that way, their almost like extended family.

its good to know that some people really do care. i think keeping previous owners updated is a great way for them to still hold on to their babies but let them go at the same time :)

I have a friend who wants me to take on their senegal soon. His mom has emphysema and may have a lung operation, etc, so soon she won't be able to keep her bird anymore. The bird is 15 too so they've had it a long time. They instantly wanted me to take their bird because they know how much time, effort and love I have for animals, birds especially. I'm going to slowly start coming over to interact until it's time to rehome to me and I can still bring the senegal to visit them and send many pix etc. They are really really upset but for healths sake the doctor said pets must go :( so I can relate. I'm trying to make it easy for both them AND the bird by making it gradual. Rehoming must be so stressful on the birds too :( (if they were cared for properly with love of course)

That is so wonderful that you are still in such close touch with them! I have not heard from most of my rehomes previous homes in ages. One woman did get back in touch to let me know that she would love to have Talli back if I ever wanted to rehome him. She also gave me Kodee, the IRN since he was a little too wild for her.
I really don't hear from the rest much at all:( I think for some it is just too painful, and others just moved on.
