Blue front amazon
I have a blue front amazon named Rainbow. I am not Rainbow's first owner.
Rainbow is 8 years old, and was never taught to step up or anything. The only way I can get the bird to the vet is to use a towel. Rainbow hates men, and tries to attack my fiance. I don't know what to do with Rainbow since Rainbow will only willingly come out if Rainbow can climb up to top of cage, and that's not good either.:green:

How long have you had him for?
A little more info would be great! It Will help everyone on the forum be able to help you out a bit more :)

What sort of enviroment was he in before you took him in?

How long have you had him?

Do you have a good size Cage for him with plenty of Toys?

Is he friendly towards you? Will he step onto you? If not try getting him to step onto a stick!

We will be able to answer more when we know a little more about his background.

Welcome to the forum, i'm sure we can help you with Rainbow.I'm a amazon person from way back and deal with lots of rehomes. If you care we can work things out. Give us all the history you can and we can give better advice. Towels are easy to over come and so are interactions. Thanks for giving an older rehome a second chance , we'd love to help.

I don't know much about Rainbow's past except that Rainbow had 2 previous owners. The lady who sold Rainbow to me said "I just can't care for Rainbow any more I've been in and out of the hospital". I took Rainbow to the vet shortly after bringing home, and bird had Respiratory Infection which I treated. Took Rainbow back for checkups everything is good. When I first got Rainbow, the vet gave her a vitamin shot. I weaned Rainbow off of an all seed diet onto Harrison's and fresh fruits and veggies. This bird loooves sweet potatoes.
Since I got Rainbow there is blue coming in on the face where it was just all white. I know that Rainbow was sprayed by a water bottle by the previous owner when she would do something the owner didn't like. I do not do that here, and only mist Rainbow if needed. Rainbow hates men. The previous owner told me that at one point they had a cage that the bars were too spread out and Rainbow got head stuck in between bars. The husband pushed Rainbows head back through the bars and ever since "they say" Rainbow has had a grudge against men. I won't call Rainbow he or she because Rainbow wasn't sexed yet. They think it's a girl. This bird has been very hormonal as of late. If I make sure the room is nice and bright at daytime and then lights' out it's not so bad now. It took experimenting. I have been trying to make sure Rainbow gets plenty of sleep and put her to bed earlier since the hormones are a flying.

Sounds like your doing everything right. The towels are because that's how the vet handles her.The men issue? who knows. Socialization is the key. She needs to be around lots of people who treat her good.I take in birds who don't like women/men and it takes a long time to overcome these issues and they still prefer one over the other, but they can make friends. If you notice the hormones are causing aggression then chances are you have a boy.
