green-cheeked conure (male)
Hi. My wife and I have a sweet green-cheeked conure named Nalu (8 yr old male). We are sadly looking to rehome Nalu, since we will be moving internationally for my work and are unable to take him due to import restrictions. We are trying to find a new loving family for him and thought we would try posting to this community. We live in San Diego, CA, but would be open to transporting him elsewhere if someone thinks he would be a good fit for their flock.

A bit of about Nalu: he was born on Oahu, Hawaii, and we took him in at a few months of age. He was our first child, and he came with us when we briefly moved to Tucson, AZ in 2021, and then San Diego in 2022. Since we brought him into our home 8 years ago, he has enjoyed a relatively cage-free life (except for bedtime or when we leave the house for extended periods). He has two tree perches that he spends his days on: one fashioned out of a strawberry guava tree from Hawaii, and another made from Arizona manzanita branches (this one has become his main daily use perch). Nalu is very smart and sweet. He loves head scratches and neck rubs, performing tricks, and spending time with his people. We generally keep him flighted, so that he can easily make his way back to his perch if he is spooked (especially since we now have two human kids that could pose a hazard). Though, even when he is flighted, he prefers to stick to the safety and comfort of his perch. He enjoys spending time on shoulders and snuggling in long hair. He also knows how to poop on command and kiss and say "I love you".

He has never lived in a household with other birds, but we think he would probably enjoy other bird buddies (in Hawaii, he would hear and see the wild Indian Ringnecks flying outside the window and he would call out as if he wanted to join). If possible, we love the idea that he could go to a family where he would still be able to take and use his beloved perch (but understandable if not possible).

Thanks for reading, and let me know if you would like additional details!
