I recently took down and sold my 480gal saltwater tank setup, cleaned the room, and built a large enclosure for a coatimundi. Enclosure is constructed of regular wood studs and has galvanized wire stapled into the wood (with a pneumatic stapler). Framed in a storm door. My coati loved it, and I loved the coati.......unfortunately I have found out my allergies are not so fond of the coati......after visiting an allergist, trying a HEPA filter, and wearing a long-sleeved shirt and mask, I just can't do this.....so the coati is getting rehomed this weekend.
I have had a Senegal for about 6 years.....he is in a large cage in our bedroom....no allergy problems with him. I would like to get a Blue and Gold Macaw and retool the Coati cage for it. I have already found the bird, a 3 year old from a Rescue a couple of hours away.....I just need to get its home ready.
I have a couple of ideas......one would be to sheetrock over the wire on back/sides/top, then put plexiglass on the front. Another idea would be to put stucco wire on the front/sides/back and then fashion walls made of concrete.....something like this:
This is what my enclosure looks like:
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!
