I'm looking to adopt one or more cockatiels
Hello all. It has been almost 9 years since I had my little Romeo whom I had to rehome as he became more and more protective of me towards my children. I no longer have children in the home and am talking to a person about a bonded pair of handfed cockatiels. They come with a decent cage (I plan to upgrade to a double flight cage in the future if I adopt them, if not I will buy the cage and keep looking for my feathered friend(s). I'm asking lots of questions of the person I am possibly adopting from, they are being slow to answer so not sure if they are busy or trying to figure out what to say to make me want them. They look healthy in the photos. One looks to be standard grey male possibly pied (I have to look up colors again) the female is a pearled grey. They say they are under a year old (going to try to get the hatch date if I can) and that the male is already learning to speak. I am very excited and have found two vets in my area that see birds. I am looking into them to figure out which to use. I look forward to learning more and sharing with you all!:grey:

Welcome to you and your return to having companion birds!

Take your time, ensure they are the right fit! The adage of "letting the bird choose you" is helpful and sets the pace for a great bond! I hope this pair is ideal for you!

Having a choice of vets is wonderful. While many practices accept "exotic" patients, a "certified avian vet" is best. (description and credentials vary globally)

I myself was in a similar situation -- I had a Jenday Conure for 5 years as a teen but had to rehome him when college came around and no one would look after him. 10 years later I finally jumped back into the parrot game and adopted a pair of hand fed tame cockatiels.

They were perfect for me!! They weren't overly clingy to me as they had and loved each other but they would still step up and fly around the living room and sit on my shoulder. They were a great choice for me and they needed a good home. Sometimes you just have to make a leap of faith when there are not many opportunities to meet the bird beforehand. Sadly the hen passed away this year but I still have and love the male. But I doubt I will stay with one bird for long. :)

Hi and welcome! If possible, do a reverse image search on google. Just to keep everyone honest!

Well the lady decided that she wanted the money more than a good home for them. She let me know she got paid for them and they were picked up this morning. So I will have to look elsewhere for a bird but I still plan to have at least one!
