I saw this today and picked it up. I have the original Dremel 8100 I used for a while as well as a few others. The major design issue with the 8100 was the switch design not being sealed. I had mines replaced about 3 times under warranty period and always blow the dust out of it after finished with it. So now they came up with a new model the Dremel lite that just came out and comes as a pet version as well. Pretty much the price point of in between the 7300 to 7700 that people use for pets for years. This is the new model that replacing those and yes they have one that a pet kit that comes with the nail guard attachment as a kit for $49.99 on Amazon currently.
So here the initial review I would have gave it a solid 9 out of 10, but has one major issue? Vibration and is pretty bad. Run out is good on shaft, so not the issue, but case and stuff inside rattles around and is pretty annoying. So do that I can't recommend it to anyone that using it for dogs that sensitive to noises and especially birds. It is a shame, as rest of unit is fine. It has windings on motor armature dipped to protect commutator wires from shearing off and fan to keep motor cool. Switch is much better then the 8100 as finally a sealed design. It charges via micro USB port and also has a dust cover covering the USB port as well to keep dust out. Can use the optional pet attachment as well unlike most of the 7300, unless you get it with the kit. It is very lightweight and feels great in the hand. Switch had 4 speeds is not infinitely variable, which is good for pets as you set speed correctly and usually 1, or 2 works best without having to much power and switch lock in. That vibration kills it for me, I going to try another one, just to make sure it not a defective unit, but I doubt it. Yes did run it for 10 minutes on highest speed to break it in. I really want to like this one, so going to try another as I do think this one been dropped as when I rotate it, or shake it noise goes away, depending on how I hold it, but is something in the case that causing the noise. I will update this thread if that turns out to be the case.
If you want the best pet grooming cordless nail trimmer, go with the Dremel Micro, or HyperTough cordless as they are quite, light weight, sealed switch, LED lights and good battery life. Only downside for some would be you can not use the pet nail guard attachment, but personally don't like that attachment and use drum instead.
I could tear this one down to see whats loose, but not going to as brand-new and have extended in store warranty on it, as plan on keeping it for 2 years plus. Plus don't expect you guys to have to take it apart to resolve the issue. So going to exchange in tomorrow after work and hope for the best and that it is a QA issue, or been dropped, as it does happen, plus see a lot of positive reviews on it, but mostly people that received it as a "Vine Customer Review of Free Product" for reviews as to new still, so I take the reviews on Amazon with a gain of salt, as the way I see it is? Even if they are not getting directly paid to leave a positive review, in order to receive the free items you can't leave to many unfavorable reviews, otherwise they won't sent you anymore free items. So yes it does affect the reviews in Dremel and Amazon favor. It the same with most YouTube reviewers. It does affect integrity of the review as a result.
