As some of you may know i work with a lady in my area, doing behavioral work i have been doing this for quite some time now. Her flock has become like my second flock i truly call them that. her birds when i first came moved away from me and now they all swarm to me and welcome me with an open heart. I truly have become attached to some of these wonderful creatures. I got a pretty sad phone call tonight.

A greater sulphur crested named annie has passed away, she was a great girl ridden by internal health issues which then she began mutalating. The first time i met her i felt so much for her as i do with all mutalatiors and pluckers i meet it seems. My relation grew with this dear girl once i made a custom collar for her that was lighter and much more comfy then those plastic beasts. I then began grooming her feathers for her as she couldnt reach much of her head and back and so on to be able to do it. My last memory was last weekend i went there to work with her birds and i groomed annies feathers. the first time i groomed her feathers she lunged at me i worked with her and she melted into my febble hands and loved every bit of what she was getting. every time she now asks for this to be done. I couldnt have asked to be more blessed with the chance to meet her and spend the time i did with her. I will miss annie greatly and i just wanted to offer this poor girl some respect, i am truly distraught. She was not truly my own, but she was in the ways all of this womans birds have begun. tonight i realized her flock is truly my 2nd flock and there is no wrong in saying i love them as much as my own.

fly high annie! i will miss you greatly and so will your mother.

kind regards, justin

I'm so sorry JT, I know what it feels like to love another even if its not yours

Sorry to hear about yor fetuered friend annie. She is flying free.

Thank you so much everyone for offering your respect for annie! it means a lot to me and i just wanted you all to know that

Justin, You & I have so much in common, and so many similar stories. I share your pain & grief, as I have been in your shoes many times. Only other bird people can understand how much (& easily) these creatures work their way into our hearts. And what a hole they leave there, when they go. I find solace in knowing that every bird that comes into my life has been better for being there, and has left me a better person for having known them. I often say that I lost my mind when I began rescuing birds, but, also found my soul. Know that you made a dear friend in Annie, and improved her life for a time. Her sadness & problems are over, and her spirit is free. Rest In Peace, dear Annie!

So sorry to hear about Annie, such sad news, affecting many people.

BillsBirds has summed it up 100%

You sure made a big difference in Annie life...
FLY FREE Annie

Bills thank you so much and i do agree the similarities me and you share, they are great traits to have and i really do appriciate that you would begin to put such wonderful labels on me as a person it makes me truly adore what i do and makes me strive to effect more parrots as i did annie, again thank you so very much

ant thank you sooo much your always great and yet again everything i said to bills applies to you:).

I am sorry for your loss. You had a connection with Annie and she did with you. Her loss is huge with you and I can feel that through your words. It is never easy to loose a dear friend and companion. I am sure she enjoyed your companionship and love and knew she was loved.

My best for you and hope you have a good weekend with your outings of outreach that you have planned.

Take care.

It brought me to tears but I'm still emotional from last night.....I'm sure Annie thought of you preening her feathers before passing in a sweet dream. Be thankful as you got to meet her and see how she is special before her passing.

JT - I'm truly sorry for your loss. It is clear that Annie had a big piece of your heart. I agree that BillsBirds said it best for all of us. Only bird people truly know the loss we feel when losing a beloved feathered friend. You gave Annie so much as she did you. Fly free little Annie may you rest in peace. :(

oh JT- my heart goes out to you, I am really very sorry for your loss.

It sounds like you made her life bearable and offered her comfort when she needed it the most, and in turn you got love, respect, and appreciation. you offered her your soul, and she felt it.

bless you for being there for her in her last days.

When your heart is stolen you can do nothing about it but go with it. Thanks for loving Annie.

My heart goes out to you... (((hugs)))
