Ruffles and Birdie

Hello all. Was searching the internet today and found your site with some extremely helpful information on parrot "boxes" (for nesting). Thanks so much for that info. I was getting read to order a cat Igloo for Ruffles, my umbrella cockatoo, and his companion, Birdie, a green conure. Thank goodness I saw what you said about aggression! Even though Ruffles is a male, he seemed like he wanted to nest, hence, my search for an Igloo. He has become really aggressive towards Birdie AND me, so I guess the nesting box would make him more so, which I definitely do NOT want!
Happy birding to all of you. They're such a joy but sure have their downfalls (screaming, biting, making horrible messes).
BTW, anyone have any ideas on how to calm them down???

A couple of basics:
- It is NEVER the fault of the Parrot! It is ALWAYS the fault of the Human! Starting from that vantage point and you will quickly determine what you are doing wrong and can therefore correct it sooner.

- Only good things happen when Humans are around!

- Leave 'your' timelines and expectations at the door before you enter the house.

- Go to the Forums for your specific species and Read the High Lighted in Light Blue Threads at the top of that Forum. They are call Sticky's and they are there because they address common questions.

Welcome to the forums, thanks for joining. Yes, nesting boxes/enclosures can increase aggressiveness, and for that reason they are generally not recommended unless you are a serious and knowledgeable breeder.

How aggressive has Ruffles become, and especially towards Birdie? The size differential is enormous with potential harm to both you and your conure. Can you give some idea of age, past history, and how long they have been with you?
