Green Cheek Conure-Yoshi
Hi everyone,

I am looking to replace the perch and toy hardware that came with some items I've purchased for my Green Cheek Conure parrot.

I recently searched some Amazon wing nuts, bolts, washers, and carabiners that are 304 stainless steel. It just occurred to me that Amazon may not be the most reputable due to their lack of knowledge on a random seller.

Can someone give my any advice on where to find wing nuts, bolts, washers, and carabiners to hold toys/bowls/perches (preferably 304 stainless).

Thank you in advance!

This woman, Monika S, might be able to tell you some locations in the states, or at least have some toy kits, etc..

West Marine sells 316 stainless fasteners safe for marine applications and highly sought after for food safety. Anything that says Marine Grade is 316 which is food safe and more corrosion resistant than 304 stainless.

Also try Marsh Fasteners which sells specific grades of stainless fasteners. Their website has a lot of info on stainless grades.

We have a member, wrench13 who is a fasteners expert! Hopefully he will see your thread and give some solid advice on where to purchase good hardware.

Honestly, a Home Depot or Lowe's would be the easiest. Ace Hardware too. Just about every source will have 304 SS hardware. I wish I could tell you how cheap these really are when they are sold by the 1,000's - but at the retail level it is horrible! At least at Ace you can buy individual fasteners - the other have packets of 10 or 20 and are more $.

At Lowes we sell most stainless fasteners like nuts, bolts, screws, and washers by the piece. Who would need a box of 50 hex nuts? You can even order them delivered to your home, Amazon style, for free, if you join the rewards program. Just ask an employee for details because I can't recall them. I work in the Parcel department processing internet orders and Lowes will ship most things they sell FedEx and it will arrive in 2 to three days max. I've gotten orders for ONE hex nut costing 15 cents and we have to ship it. I secretly hope the guy too cheap to buy more than one nut drops it where it can't be retrieved!

Sounds accurate for retailers to jack up the pricing. Thank you so much! I genuinely have been struggling to find what I’m looking for while still remaining reputable and bird-safe! I finally found bolts for the water bowl to hold them to the cage- there’s an option for stainless steel and I confirmed that they are uncoated when selecting SS- woohoo!!

Thanks again!

😆 Thanks so much for all this info!! I didn’t know that Lowes sends straight through Amazon- glad to hear!!
