Screamer has been with us since Sunday, and I feel like she's starting to look a bit more comfortable. I'm sure it's a bit unsettling for her to be surrounded by 3 conures and new people (although she was sharing her previous home with a U2 and M2 that didn't enjoy her company). Thankfully she has stayed with us before for a couple of weeks at a time, so we're not completely new to her.

She's been having her daily out of cage time with the conure crew, and we've been closely supervising. I'm feeling fortunate - while my group isn't all friendly with each other, they aren't aggressive at all and mostly ignore each other. Although Tango has been looking speculatively at her pretty yellow crest feathers and appears to be considering whether he wants to tweak those. I have my eye on him, and am diverting his attention when I see him having trouble-making urges.

Screamer is simply adorable, and her personality is so different from the conures. I can see why so many people love cockatiels. She lives for head scratches, and emphatically lets you know that she is not done receiving them. Her lovely little chirps are quite a refreshing addition to the "sun chorus" that I'm used to living with

Wonderful!

I completely love your attitude. So easy-going and positive and flexible and appreciative.

I love cockatiels. It's just hard to go wrong with a little 'tiel. Even experiencved "big-bird" parronts can get their hearts stolen by one. Right, Jim (AmyMyBlueFront)?

By the way, that may be the cutest photo I've seen in ages! The ol' upside-down-head-scritch pose...!

Major cuteness! Cockies achieve a level of cute that is rarely acquired by other species, and certainly not Amazons. Oh Salty has his cute times, but something like this? Never!
Let's hope the name Screamer is just allegory and not fact!

One question? Why does Screamer have a foot growing out of her eye?

She loves is like she’s settling in just fine! My gosh she’s cute.

Al you got it backwards. She’s got an upside down head growing out of her foot. [emoji16]

Beautiful picture of Screamer! My BB just loves head scratches too..I just melt when he nudges my hand then lowers his head demanding skritches :05:

You are sooooo right,Ms Gail! ;)

My cockatiel will be 17 this year, and yup! Loves those head scritches! She's nicer nowadays about asking for them, too.

Screamer is adorable!

It’s so funny to me - she has been named Screamer for 6 years, so I don’t dare change it. I’ve been calling her Scree because the name Screamer does NOT fit her at all (I live with 2 sun conures, she can’t even compete).

I absolutely adore the upside-down head pose, which is new to me (none of my conures do this). I was trying so hard to catch a pic of her floofy yellow cheeks and had to give up since every time you look at her, she automatically assumes her upside down “scratch me” pose. She was on my husband’s knee in this photo and seems happy to have either one of us do the scratching, she’s not partial.

I’m also enjoying the unabashed joy she takes in spray bottle baths - none of my conures like the spray bottle AT ALL (confirmed bowl bathers, the lot of them). She’s all spastic, wings-flapping, crest-extended and tail-shaking excitement when the spray bottle squirts her. I’ll have to try to capture that in a photo lol.

Variety is the spice of life :)
