This morning I went to get Venus up and found her asleep at the bottom of her cage sleeping. Sleeping on top of an egg!!!! All precautions in place to discourage egg laying but she did it anyway in the sunlit room. So I opened her cage unhappily and walked away to make my coffee.

As I sat in the livingroom to drink my coffee Venus strolls into the room and demands up on my foot so we talked about why eggs are not a good thing. I'm expecting egg number two within 48 hours. I haven't taken her egg given to her reputation. This is egg number 7 for 2016. Here we go again!

Oh no, Tracy, I was hoping she was going to take a break:(
Here's hoping that she is getting them all out her system in 2016 and no eggs in sight for 2017.

Hope you are able to get some sleep. I still think and laugh about your comment "time to bake button" or something like that. Good luck

Oh no, not again. Poor you! Will you let Venus see this through with her egg(s) this time? Bet you can't wait for her to get bored of it? LOL

Gah! Dang it, Venus! Give your mom a break, won't you?!? Geez!

I'm with Terry, Trace. I'm hoping Venus' New Year's resolution will have something to do with giving up egg-laying. She's quite the stubborn one though, isn't she?

I'm a bit surprised, while she laid one egg she hasn't been hovering over it and sitting on it. It's as though she's not as interested in her egg like she was with her previous eggs. I haven't taken the egg and the reason I haven't is because when I took her eggs away she would lay a replacement. For those not familiar with Ekkies, they lay 4 eggs a year average, she's on number 7 in 11 months. I'm hoping that the lack of interest and lack of "meanness" are positives and she will move past her puberty.

My New Years resolution for Venus is NO MORE EGGS! And once she lays her second, I'll remove her tiny eggs and put her jumbo, dummy eggs in her cage to sit on, lol. I'm hoping she'll give up on egg laying lol!

once again, Kudos to you for your patience and persistence! She certainly has put you through the wringer this last year. Hoping 2017 is a better year for you both...and NO MORE EGGS
