1 male Eclectus, Poe.
Hi everyone, noticed someone else has asked about VOS weight, and myself, having searched the internet (including land-of-vos), can only find weight averages across ALL eclectus breeds.
This isn't particularly helpful as SI/red-sided are far smaller than VOS.

Poe is 6 months and weights 315g.
What would a good ball-park weight be for an SI?

Cheers.

I don't know what a good "ball-park" weight would be but I can tell you my Jax is a SI and his weight has been 340 to 350 grams over the last ten years. It fluctuates a bit with the seasons. ;)

Adult weights are what all the charts refer to. Poe will continue to gain weight for at least another 2 or 3 years. Probably another 30 to 40 grams.

There are so many factors that determine what they will weigh including where the
ancestors of your bird came from on the Solomon chain. You should read Susie Christians' thoughts: The Eclectus Parrot, Eclectus roratus (P.L.S. MULLER 1776)

I know people with adult male Solomons who weigh 325 that are just small birds. Perfectly healthy small birds.

My male Solomons weigh 355, 380 and 385.

Thanks. I'll ask my vet next time I see him. I'm aware Poe is growing, I just thought he seemed a little light. His behaviour is fine and he's very active, so I don't think he's wasting. Just curious.

Oliver (SI) weighed in at 360 at the vets three weeks ago. He was 5.5 months old. The vet seemed pleased with his weight and overall development.
