Eclectus parrot, rescue, Riley 13 yr old, CAG siblings Punkin and Munkin, 5 yr old
Hi, in January we adopted a pair of CAG siblings, five years old, Punkin, and Munkin.
They have shared a cage since they were weaned.
They get along well most of the time. Occasionally the female will nip at the male, but it never escalates.
They will often "coo" to each other and then interlock beaks in a kind of kiss.
I've observed the male seeming to feed, or at least pretending to feed the female.
They also do a mutual preening, where they preen each others necks.
At what age do CAGs reach sexual maturity?
Should we be concerned about a mating relationship developing between the siblings?
Hoping someone can shed some light on this topic.
Thx.

I've read elsewhere before that it's between 4-7 they become sexually mature and that brother and sister will mate and obv shouldn't because of mental and physical disability in offspring. I would probably separate them to be sure. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but I'm sure someone will more knowledge will reply soon

I would seperate them. Just in case that they get in a fight when they are gone, I would keep them seperated. But I would make sure that they get playtime together everyday for a few hours SUPERVISED. :)

I would set up another cage. I know, double the cleaning, but it would be worth it IMO. Whether or not they're of age to produce offspring or not, I wouldn't want them to try mating to begin with if it were me.

...I also have family who lives in Moorpark :)
