My Dads budgie is normally very active and the last couple of days all he does is sleep and eat. Its now gotten to the point that he just sleeps in front of the food bowl and only wakes to eat then closes his eyes again. My Dad got the budgie from a pet shop 7 months ago so he wont be a great deal older than 7 months. The budgie is 1 of 2 and the other one is fine just they aren't interacting what so ever.
Is this a sign of anything common?
Any advice would be appreciated...

My advice to your dad would be to take him to an avian vet, as this behavior is not normal and can indicate sickness. Good luck!

Did they used to interact before? in the wild if one is sick they try to stay away so it doesn't effect the entire flock? i agree with kc y0 i think an avian vet visit needs to be done as soon as possible.

I advise to take it to the vet immediately . While you make an appointment try to and coax it to eat spray millet, it has a lot of fat so if your bird stops eating it'll give him some energy . Also, separate the sick one from the rest so if the disease is contagious ( most of the time is ) the other budgies won't get it. Give it a lot of rest and don't handle it often . I also reccomend taking the other budgies for a check up just in case if they already caught it . Try to make it warm, put a heated perch in if you have one or keep it in the warmest part of the house. Also , put only 1 perch in it to sit on so he doesn't have to move a lot. Its always my worst nightmare for my budgies or my other pets to get sick, especially hard on the budgie, such a small bird for any kind of disease, pepsi and sprites wishes go to you. Keep us updated.
