Not that I recall.
But depending on the problem there are treatments for some liver disorders.
Try not to despair, Amazons are the bounce back kings.

It depends on what is exactly wrong, cause & how far it’s gotten.

If it’s fatty liver which is pretty common with amazons. They will probably want a diet change up, exercise & some supplements like milk thistle. If it is fatty liver & not bad yet they do tend to bounce back well once you get it all under control.

I’d just call in & get the results off them if they have had them for awhile. You can most likely demand the results be emailed & take a look while you wait for the vet to call to discuss.

I lost my amazon Bonita at 72 to liver/kidney failure. Its hard.. it really all happens so fast. be overly observant of your amazon. Note the smallest of changes. During this, they may lose their appetite. Please feed them whatever they want, just make sure they eat. Im manifesting good luck and health for you both. If you need to talk about anything, feel free to message me.

Not an Amazon, but my Quaker Lucy recovered from fatty liver and peritoneal infection (from retained eggs). But it was very touch and go for several days.

Lucy got liquids under her skin, oxygen, warmth and injected antibiotics at the emergency vets. She had a bruised beak and was lethargic. It was so scary! I stayed home from work a couple of days and held her and hand fed her, and she recovered. I gave milk thistle at home but she was on antibiotics and Lupron to stop the egg business.

Lucy was about as sick as a bird can be and she recovered completely to live another fifteen years. So it can happen—they can get better and be ok. I’m wishing that for you and Angel. Xoxo

I got the blood test results back and the vet didnt tell e much about them or about angel so i called today and left word that i wanted the vet that i saw to call me back so we'll see. She is also very cranky and is growling at everything.. she used to be so sweet

Her feathers are turning an ugly dark gray and she has lost the feathers around her eyes and then there's her beak , that looked like it was shriveling up at the end, just so many things at once.
Starting to think i shouldn't have them .

Likely you are seeing a Standard Vet and it is possible that your Vet maybe communication with an Avian Medical Specialist.

What are you feeding your Amazon?
Cut all Sunflower Seed and Peanuts from the diet and cut them now. Increase wet veggies and fruits that will help at this point. Also see recommendation provided above!!

Schedule your Amazon into an Certified Avian Vet ASAP! Fatty Liver can and does kill Parrots and especially Amazons! Regular Full Spectrum Blood testing is a must with Amazons!! A Healthy Amazon every 15 months!!

My lovebird has FLD and sprouting his seeds (with the additional supplements and fresh food) really shows an improvement. Research sprouting birds their seeds and see if this is an option for you. The only un- sprouted seeds he gets is the lafaber senior nutriberries (it has glutathione and milkthistle).

zeepreen the fruit shaped ones inside the cage.. she has that always in there..but lately cause im trying to make her better been giving all sorts of stuff seeing if she'll eat it...trying vitamins in the water and just today a rice mix will all sorts of good stuff in it.. i think shes getting better could be just faking it. also i've noticed bubbles in my other amazon poop so read that apple cider vinegar helps that so gave that today as well for both birds..Im thinking that they both have similar things going on

i will do that...daughter gave me some beans so going to try and sprout them. I cant grow anything besides dust so we'll see what happens

I get organic bird seed sprouting mix from true leaf matket and I also used another seller (who is from NY if I'm not mistaken). The sprouting process not too difficult.
