The first, and second day here our sun conure was very affectionate with me, and everybody. She was even learning nee sounds. Then all of a sudden she became quite. I mean quiet quiet like she is just going through the motions os stepping up, and hanging out with us. She isn't playing with her toys nor is she mimicking sounds other than once last night trying to repeat a sentence back to my husband.

Is this normal adjustment behavior?
Also I can not get her to eat fresh food. Just treats, and her feed mix. Do some birds just not enjoy fresh fruits, veggies, and meats? This is a first for me.
Thank you ahead of time! :rainbow1::40::40:

Well, it sounds like your sun is new to your house? If so, it's not unusual for a bird to be quiet in the beginning. They are adjusting to a new environment and just going through the motions. Is she sitting on the floor of the cage, puffed up or look like shes panting? If so, I highly suggest taking her to a vet. If she is perching and eating/drinking then likely she is just trying to adjust to the new surroundings and her moods may reflect that.

As far as diet goes, a bird will eat when it's hungry. It may or may not be when you first feed them. As far as what you are feeding, I find many birds are 'fussy' when it comes to food, just like humans. Provided the fruits/veggies/nuts are fresh and cut to proper size proportions - you should be able to tell what she likes and doesn't like based on what she eats.

What sort of diet are you feeding her? I feed my sun conure Harrisons organic pellets. I also give him 'power treats' as a reward as well as fruits/veggies/pasta as treats as well.

Just make sure she is getting enough nutrients from a well balanced diet. But given that she is 'new' to your home, I wouldn't suggest making any significant diet changes right now. Do you know what diet she used to be fed?
