Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier Jamjar - We got Oscar the first week of January...so its been 7wks. We first were told that he was about 28-30yrs old but its closer to 21-22yrs. I was able to get ahold of the original owner, he was about 7yrs old when he got Oscar, but he said he would talk to his mother to find out if Oscar was actually a baby at that time.
He was alittle reserved when he first got here but he is getting braver with talking, playing and eating new things.
He enjoys his foot toys the best on top of his cage, doesn't really mess with the bigger ones inside the cage, but will chew on one of them. He is not too much of an upside down swinger/acrobat - - but I do think part of that is because the width of the cage bars are too wide?? What he does love is a roll of plain adding machine/calculator paper! OMG! I put it on top of the cage and he pulls and pulls, long streamers, chewed up bits of confetti everywhere!! He gets tangled up it in and has a temper tantrum! Too funny!!
When it comes to food - - he seems to like 'light colored' fresh foods. lol Sounds strange but that is what I have noticed. He is in love with flour tortillas...he calls it a 'cracker' and if he sees you eating something that resembles that, he will beg for it! So, besides tortillas and any kind of bread, he eats mashed potatoes, apples, egg white. I need to try cauliflower next!!

I couldn't get him to eat the green grape - he kept throwing it. My Grey use to love grapes, he would peel them, only wanted the inside. Always made the biggest mess, throwing the peel, shaking them, bits and pieces would go flying. ugh. Old grape is just about as hard to clean up as dried up poo. yuck! lol
As for talking.....Oscar is a hoot whenever he sees my nephew or hears his voice. He doesn't really answer/talk to anyone else. I can sit there an try try try to get him to 'talk', I sound like a fool saying diffferrent things, changing the pitch of my voice etc but he knows better. lol Sometimes, if he is alone in the room and he hears me in the kitchen, he will call out to me and I always answer and come to him, but he will not carry on the conversation. Its just the squawking and noises - sometimes a hi or hello but that is it. I am not sure if that will ever change.
The laughing thing is really the best! I am not sure how many different 'laughs' I have heard him do but its hilarious!
Marley might surprise you one day!

Don't ever give up talking, singing, doing new things, trying new foods etc. They looove and need the physical, emotional and mental stimulation just as we do. Some of them just don't express it as outwardly as others. How long have you had Marley and what is his age?
The only sports we have on tv here is WWF wrestling. lol One of my older nephews has a monthly wrestling party that usually has about 25 college kids packed into the living room. Oscar is right there with everyone. Lastnight was his 2nd party and he was very quiet again. We are hoping that he will start to cheer/roar/make some noise along with everyone in the future!!
